Q: As a seasoned TOEFL teacher, in your opinion, how can students effectively prepare for the exam to achieve high scores?

Based on the teaching experience over the years, preparing for the TOEFL test should be divided into three steps:

First of all, students must have a solid language foundation, that is, they must master basic vocabulary and grammar. Only in this way can they proceed more painlessly throughout the entire TOEFL preparation process. Therefore, in my plan for students' English learning during the three years of high school, I particularly emphasize that they should start laying a solid foundation in various abilities such as vocabulary, grammar, and listening from the first year of high school. I will plan the time for them to memorize words and practice listening every day according to their abilities.

The second step is to stick to the plan. This step is also the most difficult and tests both students and teachers the most. Because teachers need to prepare tasks for students every day, guide them to complete them, keep good records, and then reflect and adjust in a timely manner based on the records. This requires a high level of time and energy from teachers. From the perspective of students, it is necessary to make them feel a sense of meaning from their daily persistence, so that they can have the motivation to do it. Teachers should encourage students from time to time, teach them methods, empower them, and sometimes even take some "extraordinary" measures to stimulate them.

The third step is that after students have established a solid language foundation, they still need some practice and methods to deal with TOEFL. As a teacher, I will systematically guide students to unlock the methods for solving each problem in TOEFL. Coupled with continuous practice and summary, I will help students internalize them into their own abilities and assist them in improving their English.

From my own learning experience and some cases of high-scoring students in the past, sometimes learning English requires some "hard work", that is, one should not take shortcuts but do one thing solidly and well.

Arrange every 45 minutes reasonably to enable the students to gain something.

Q: What do you usually do when you are not in class?

On weekends, I usually go around Conghua to have a look, so I have basically visited all the places near the school. Some of them I have been to more than once. Conghua is very beautiful. Every time I go out, it's like recharging, recharging for the work of the following week.

I will also watch some teacher training courses. When I come across practical and interesting points, I will write them down because I think a teacher needs to keep learning in order to constantly provide new things for students.

Before going to bed, I would read a book for a while. In the past year, I have read a lot of history. Learning from history can help us understand our gains and losses.
